The Call
I was late getting back from the Toronto show, so today’s episode has been split in two. I’ll post the other half later this week, but as it stands, this serves as a nice cliffhanger. ;)
Thanks to all the people who came out to see me at the show. I also had the unexpected pleasure of meeting David Petersen, author of Mouse Guard, who is as nice in person as he is talented. If you like The Abominable Charles Christopher, you’ll love his book.
UPDATE: Added the second half!

nice cliffhanger indeed!

Sweet and suspenseful. You’re amazing at setting a new mood, Karl. Keep me coming back…
[Not that I wouldn’t, anyway].

I love that they’re cuddling.
I can’t wait till next week!

Great strip Karl, as always. I love the cuddling in panel 2, and Townsen is just awesome. He should have his own strip; the Adventures of Townsen, the Hyperactive Cub.
Happy you came to my b-day, sorry it made you split the strip in 2… But hey, it means two updates of the Abominable Charles Christopher this week. Happy-Happy, Joy-Joy ! :)

Having read many of your comics, I recently stumbled upon Abominable earlier this week and just finally got a chance to catch up yesterday.
Wow.
I love this whole series so far and every character in it is so great! Can’t wait for next wednesday’s release!

Oh! It’s gonna be the little owl! I know it!
July 18th, 2008 at 4:51 am
Heaven’s but I LOVE this story!
July 18th, 2008 at 5:35 am
Kabuki, I don’t think the little owl is Townsen’s brother, but you never know in this comic!
Wouldn’t it be great to have a life-size ACC beanie to lay on?! Answer: yeah! Hehe.
July 20th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Oooh, nice cliffhanger! I hope Townsen is ok.

“Hoooooooooooooo”? Obviously, it’s going to be “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. U! S! A! U! S! A!
July 23rd, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Luke, that would be assuming that this would be a literal, familial “brother”, and not a figurative brother… But after rereading, you are probably correct.

o_O
COME BACK!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Well, shoot. What the hell is going on? Don’t leave little guy!
July 24th, 2008 at 12:12 am
They’re glowing!
July 24th, 2008 at 12:39 am
The look on Townsen’s face and the raised paw in panel 8 say so much more than words could ever do. It is absolutely superb.
July 24th, 2008 at 1:15 am
Hmmmm, curiouser and curiouser. Light from the foxes, dark from the lions. Well I guess we’ll see. Good luck on Friday. Going?
July 24th, 2008 at 2:49 am
Plus, Luke, I don’t think the “hoo” is an owl. It’s more like ‘the wind’…
What mischief is Townsen going to get into this time? Can’t wait until these tangents all tie together!
July 24th, 2008 at 4:24 am
Very nice Carl. It feels complete now that you’ve added the 2nd half!
But wow, something strange must be happening; you’ve never missed a deadline before.
July 24th, 2008 at 6:35 am
I think Townsen’s “brothers” are something more than he realizes or understands. But I can’t see him leaving his new friend for very long — after all, Charles *needs* him. :D Townsen does look quite concerned about leaving him all alone.
July 24th, 2008 at 7:40 am
OMG! Where is he going???!!!!!!
July 24th, 2008 at 8:56 am
the suspense, awesome!
^ ^
July 24th, 2008 at 9:28 am
No! It’s a trap! Come back! Karl, you’re killing me.
July 24th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
I’m betting they’re the ghosts of his three older brothers, but I have no idea what Townsen’s going to find.
July 24th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Well crud. The link was supposed to send you to: http://horhaus.com/abominable/2007/12/05/24/
July 24th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
mmmm, they look like sugar coated white fox-peeps.
Ok, I need to go eat something.
Keep up the great work!
July 24th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I’m thinking this is something created by an enemy, like a will o’ the wisp, to lure Townsen away and force ACC to chase after him. I can’t see Charles abandoning his little buddy.
July 25th, 2008 at 2:24 am
My guess it’s the “lion”’s doing
July 26th, 2008 at 2:03 am
NO
July 27th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Or perhaps Townsen knows a little more than he’s letting on.
July 28th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Not sure what’s gonna happen…
Heard this week that some of his brothers suffered from split ends: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7525060.stm
Looks like Charles uses good conditioner though
July 28th, 2008 at 8:02 am
oooooh I sure hope those are really his fox brothers and not some spooky dark force to lead him away *cower*!
I made my blog-bee, thanks!
July 30th, 2008 at 4:11 am
Ahhhh the fox has such an adorable face!
Can’t wait till the next strip~

“Or perhaps Townsen knows a little more than he’s letting on.”
I don’t believe that’s possible. The boy does tend to blurt. :-)
