Best Served Cold

26 Abominable Comments!

  1. Nathan Says:

Vivol means business, bad news bears.

that is some effective lighting. I’ve read every strip so far, keep up the excellent work!

  2. Todd Says:

Great development of the relationship between Vivol and Moon Bear. Your depiction of Moon Bear in this strip really drew me in. I’m intrigued to find out more.

  3. Andrew Says:

Holy ****. This just got like eight times more intense. Revenge? And with moon bear now dealing with Charles Christopher, who’s friggin abominable - Awesome. I was already dedicated to this strip because of its resemblance to calvin and hobbes in a more modern and plot-driven sense… but the badass factor just got upped quite a bit. Nice.

  4. katada Says:

oh my gosh, you’re amazing. this is amazing. can i have your talent please?

  5. KinokoFry Says:

Wonderful, this just gets better and better.

  6. Jeremy Henderson Says:

I have a feeling that eventually we are going to see what Vivol is like when he’s really angry.

I am eager/terrified to see that moment.

  7. jamaica Says:

That gave me chills. I’m really loving the range of emotion in this strip, from hungover sparrows that make me laugh to revenge-driven bears with pain in their hearts… Bravo!

  8. Maso Says:

This quite literally brought tears to my eyes. Sad, melacholic and ominous all at once. You continue to blow me away, sir.

  9. bachterman Says:

  12. eric Hews Says:

I feel confined just looking at this scene. Awesome environment.
Revenge: Best motivator ever, especially when moving characters towards an unexpected [brewing?] resolution…

  13. Sarah Says:

wow……you know…..I agree that the atmosphere and lighting is phenomenal……….but what really hit me…….his expression in the last frame………wow…….almost shivering………another great one!

  14. Chip Says:

    hoa…!

    aww moon bear <3

  16. Jaumpa Says:

Yeah Vivol, go Oldboy on their asses.

Oh God Vivol stop making me cry like that…

  18. Vikki Says:

    Git ‘em, Vivol. Git ‘em!

  19. Rawr Says:

I love Vivol’s character and leadership qualities. And it’s quite amazing how you gave him the ability to sense when someone needs to be comforted, but not babied. His empathy, simple speech, and determination completely emanate the signs of a Leader.

And I love Moon Bear’s body language. He says so much without saying a word.

  20. Rowan Says:

I love this strip. I love the characters, I love the “blue” of it.
    I love it all.
I just wish you updated more. :( le sad.
    keep it up!

  21. Steve Says:

yay- I get to be the first to compliment the “Silent Movie” style title page. Nice font work, layout. Also, splorp is, IRC, a direct homage to Calvin and Hobbes- not?

  22. karl Says:

It might be an homage to Calvin & Hobbes, Steve, but not an intentional one. I absorbed all of those strips years ago and haven’t read any of them in quite a long time, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those sound effects stuck in my head.

And Rowan, I wish I could update more often too, but right now it’s all I can do to get one of these out each week. Maybe once Teen Titans Year One is finished I can devote some more time to it.

  23. MrThumbtack Says:

I love the way the bears talk, very straightforward and to the point.

  24. cesare Says:

    I’ve read this week’s strip a dozen times . . .so sad, so powerful . . . bravo . . . .more!

  25. Mark Says:

Very nice work. I ran across the strip thanks to Blog@, but I’ll be back for more.

  26. Vashra Says:

Very nice work - I’m still here and happily reading … but…what happened to the nifty buttons that let me “tag” my spot so I could come back to it rather than having to click backwards to get where I left off?
