Scaling The Summit

37 Abominable Comments!

  1. Calista Brill Says:

Yay! The return of Bravado the Arctic Fox! (That’s what I call him in my head, see…)

  2. Spanky Says:

I love the interaction between Charles and the fox. They seem like old friends even though they just met!

  3. Eben07 Says:

that fox cracks me up. Love this comic.

  4. Streetsy Says:

I am so stoked I came across these comics. I was getting really bored with PVP and Penny Arcade and their like, when I decided to look for something with a little more depth. I am enjoying the ride, especially as you don’t feel the need to explain anything. Im not sure why this reminds me of the movies I used to watch when I was a kid during the school holidays. Relaxed and not in any hurry to get to the conclusion. And as an artist Im loving all the eye candy.

Keep it and I’ll pass the joy around.

  5. Dabrinko Says:

The fox is as scared as Charles!

  6. Esn Says:

Hmm… I liked the fox’s eyes better in strip #24, when they were black. Something about this current design is just a bit less lovable.

The last panel’s very funny, though.

  7. Cyrano Says:

@Esn - I think the eyes are still black - it’s just that he was scared in the second panel so they got really big and cartoonish. Panels 3 and 4 show the eyes as you like them.

  8. Vashra Says:

Pretty as usual…I’m chaffing at the bit for a strip that updates the Moonbear thing though.

  9. Brett Says:

Great work - you’re my current webcomic hero, Karl. Any plans for merchandise? I’d kill for a graphic of The A.C.C. himself (like in the title panel) done in a single color on a vintage-esque T-shirt…

  10. juampa Says:

Great. That typical reaction, to laugh after being scared. Don’t forget about Tivol.

  11. cs3ink Says:

    Another bloody extraordinary page!

  12. Andrew Bolton Says:

I just barely posted on comic 17, but I want to reassert this: your art reminds me so much of Calvin and Hobbes, which is really the only comic strip I’ve ever felt any sort of emotional attachment to. I’ve always wanted something like it to come around and this seems to be the very thing. Thanks Karl.

  13. Felipe Says:

Beautiful!! Incredible comic! Keep up the amazing work!

  14. Chrys Says:

I am like the fox in this one….I feel better when I know I am not the only with a particular uneasy feeling!

  15. Nathan Says:

Fantastic comic, man! Really amazing work so far.

  16. Wren Says:

Ha ha ha! That little snow fox is LE BOSS!

  20. Doc Says:

I got here from Dinosaur Comics, too… This is really all an amazing piece of work. I’m definitely sticking around.
And, for the sake of being able to say something NEW, for once, have you ever read Bone? By Jeff Smith? Something about this comic reminds me of Bone, but I can’t put my finger on what it is.

  21. Robyn Says:

I’m here from Dinosaur Comics too.
This is amazing work. Your integration of unique, gorgeous art and great lines is very refreshing.
I think I’ve laughed out loud or been slightly in awe for every comic.
    cheers!!

  22. Esn Says:

I already knew of this site long before Ryan North found it, but I also read Dinosaur Comics, so it was cool to see him mention you. Word of mouth at work here. :)
For my part, I mentioned your work to the artist who draws “Zip and Bit”, which is another wonderfully imaginative webcomic.

Vizzini: “can’t you go any faster?”

first thing that came to mind :)
