Man - I hope this strip makes it into a book-format at some point - its just as sweet and adorable and overall great as the “Alien and Possum” books - would make great reading with kids …. and grown-ups with a childlike disposition :)
Thank you. That is a perfect example of what this media should do. This is the art that web comics could be, not just in pictures but in the words as well. Please keep up the excellent work.
Aaaaahhhhhhh tthat’s cute and heartbreaking. :( This may be the best strip yet, certainly the one that provoked the strongest immediate reaction. I can so hear that kid’s voice.
Thanks everyone! I felt the same way about this one. Again, I had no plans to go in this direction, but it felt right when I sat down to draw it and I’m pretty sure that little fox will be around for a long time.
And Imojen, I always called them stuffed animals, too! ;)
Is the little fox male or female? My first guess was “male”, but in this strip it looks more female, and the speech certainly seems more feminine to me.
Esn, I was thinking it’s probably a male, especially because he pals around with his older brothers so much. But, I suppose it’s that androgynous cartoon character thing.
I love that the fox’s expression is still just a little bit dismayed after he’s been picked up, just like a kid’s face would be: “I’m comforted, but not fully.”
It’s amazing that this is an unbelievable situation that is…..utterly believable. Especially when you are talking to children, the hurt in their lives just pops out like that.
In other words, you, my sir, are a webcomic playa.)

Ohhhhh it’s just so cute! And sad, and funny, and…. perfect! This is becoming my favorite webcomic, and it doesn’t even have a plot yet! The childlike-ness of that little fox is so stunningly accurate and perfect (and adorable), I can’t get over it.

This is everything i like about this strip in a nutshell.
Well, okay. The occasional wild-eyed panic in the ACC’s eyes is missing. i like that too.

beautiful beautiful like ALWAYS.
i only wish that i had an adbominable stuffed animal* when i was little.
* i don’t know if that’s a southern term or not, but i mean teddy-bear-esque animal that you cuddle and sleep with, not a hunting trophy.

That’s some spot-on little kid dialog.
I really hope you can update this more often.

Wow. Wow.
These are stunningly beautiful. You’ve managed to capture that essence of… beauty in simplicity, I suppose, SO well. I’m quite jealous.
This one made me actually “Aww!” with my hands on my face. Adorable!
I will be continuing to read this from now on.
